Our Story…
Lots of things happen when you have a new baby…
I had this maternal urge of doing the right thing.
So I bought green bags. Lots of them. But they were big and very unpractical. And with a newborn you only have so many hands. I left the bags at home.
I was also without a job and even more upset now for not being able to use the bags that I had purchased. And paying my .50c+ per plastic bag again.
I was also out of shape, and started cycling again.
One morning when I overheated with my cycling jacket, I folded it roughly and put it in my cycling-shirt pocket, and I thought, bags should be able to fold up as tiny as this.
I grew up in a sewing factory so I immediately sourced the fabric and made my very first tiny minuscule shopping bag. Bitti was born. But life after a baby continues and I went back to work. Only 5 years later I had time to spare to manufacture more bitti bags, for others to experience the wonder of the bag. The fabric. The strength. The awesome feeling of doing the right thing. Except for the oceans and all the other beautiful reasons to really be more thoughtful about single use plastic … have you ever noticed how many plastic bags are just lying in our South African streets? Flying around in our beautiful country? Only we can change that.
